This project aims to provide a realistic training module to airmen giving them detailed, guided instructions on how to use the MultiRAE Pro Gas Meter.
Summary
This project, created for the Air Force Research Lab 711th Human Performance Wing, Force Health Protection (FHP) Team, will be used to help train airmen to be multi-mission ready to use this tool without having the physical device beforehand due to shortages of the tool and guides, leading to more readiness and proper data tracking in hazardous situations.
The virtual environment will expose airmen to a wide range of different situations safely and without the need for the physical device or instructor.

Outcomes and Additional Information
The simulation offers several levels and scenarios in which airmen may potentially need to use the MultiRAE Pro Gas Meter to detect, gather readings on, and identify several types of hazardous and non-hazardous gases. The tutorial level gives detailed instructions to the user on how to calibrate and perform bump tests on the tool, before directing them out in a scenario to use the tool without any guidance.
Users experience tasks, barriers, and hints as they navigate common environments and conditions, such as hangars, factories, and offices. The user is evaluated on their knowledge, including checklists, gas types, and safety risks.
Future work includes virtual reality headset support, hand tracking, and motion controls; additional bio-environmental tools and equipment; and expanded training environments, hazards, and missions.
